Casa Bassa

Bright contemporary furnishings contrast and complement the beautiful original features of this lovingly restored farmhouse. Elegantly detailed, but with a very different atmosphere to La Torre, Casa Bassa is infused with a bold, modern aesthetic.

Available as either a six-bedroomed house or two three-bedroom apartments with separate kitchens and dining areas, the villa is the epitome of privacy and exclusivity – if guests choose to rent just one apartment, the other is always left empty (not available in peak season).  Surrounded on all sides by the estate, overlooking a view that stretches towards Orvieto, it is a secluded sanctuary that wants for nothing.

Modern technology is seamlessly integrated into the classic Italian life. Days are filled exploring the surrounding countryside or relaxing by the heated pool; evenings on the terrace, or by the traditional stone barbecue or pizza oven gently warming the evening breeze.

Guest Reviews

"We had a wonderful stay at Casa Bassa--the house is every bit as beautiful as the pictures, and the pool and grounds are stunning. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds and sitting areas were very comfortable. We did some exploring in nearby towns, but also spent some days just relaxing at the house and enjoying the pool and the beautiful views from the patio. Cynthia, the housekeeper, was extremely helpful--available whenever we needed her but not obtrusive. She prepared two delicious meals for us and we also hired a local cook one night and enjoyed fantastic meals in several of the nearby restaurants. We highly recommend the villa and hope to have the chance to return."

"My family first stayed at Casa Bassa in July 2010 and we returned in July 2012, as we had such a restful stay in the villa. The farmhouse is sympathetically restored, retaining character but with every modern convenience. The accommodation is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Cynthia, the housekeeper, calls in regularly to ensure that guests are comfortable and have all that they require for a relaxing stay, including a welcome gift of a bottle of the estate’s own delicious olive oil. Cynthia’s husband discreetly tends the gardens and we were lucky enough to be given the excess from the vegetable gardens to supplement our evening barbecues. The views from the terrace are stunning, the only noise being the distant bleating of the estate farm sheep. Casa Bassa is such a haven of relaxation that we had to tear ourselves away to visit Orvieto. Ideas of day trips to Rome and Florence were quickly abandoned in favour of relaxing by the pool! We have booked a return stay in August this year and cannot wait."

"What can I say about Casa Bassa? It’s a little piece of Heaven! We stayed there during our summer holiday in August 2011 and it gave us everything we wanted from a holiday; peace and quiet in a beautiful setting but close enough to interesting places to visit and sightsee (a car is a must). The farmhouse itself is gorgeous with every mod con catered for as well as beautifully landscaped gardens, balcony terrace (with stunning panoramic views), patios and pool area. It’s an hour’s drive from Florence and about 1.5 hours from Rome so there are plenty of interesting and wonderful places to visit as well as a local town 10 mins away for buying food and other essentials. Would we go back? Definitely, we booked for 2012 before we left! "

"La Magnolia was the best equipped self catering accommodation we have ever stayed at. One of the most impressive features was the attention that had been given to both the exterior and interior design. So many of the features were quite luxurious. The pool garden(s) and barbeque areas were much enjoyed; the views quite magnificient. The service provide by the local manager was excellent, all you would expect plus so many additional thoughtful touches. We would thouroughly recommend this accommodation."
